Stroud Short Stories in October: on the look-out for spooky tales ...

Stroud Short Stories is back on Sunday, 14th October, 2012 and is looking for stories to be read by their authors at this event.

Stories can be between 50 and 1500 words in length and can be on any subject but, as Halloween will be approaching, SPOOKY STORIES ARE ESPECIALLY WELCOME. The deadline for submissions is: Sunday 16th September.

Authors are welcome to submit up to three short stories.

Stroud Short Stories on May 27th

May’s Stroud Short Stories featured a surprising number of animals (cats, cooked and raining with dogs, black rhinos, roaring lions, tweeting blackbirds, rampant stags) as well as the promised raspberry upside-down sponge.  Many thanks to all the authors for making such a success of the night with their wonderful stories, and to our headliner, the always excellent Tania Hershman.

Stroud Short Stories in May

Stroud Short Stories returns on Sunday May 27th with a glittering line-up of short stories for a special Site Festival event. On offer will be roaring lions and raspberry sponge cake, raining cats, busking blackbirds, family feuds and plenty of oxygen.

As usual, all stories have been selected from submissions, are read by their authors and are under ten minutes long.

The headliner for the event is Tania Hershman (“a writer dripping with talent, this is as good as modern reading gets” New Scientist), author of two collections of short stories, The White Road and My Mother was an Upright Piano.

The event will take place at Stroud Valleys Artspace, starting at 8pm. Entry is £4 on the door.

Stroud Short Stories in May: Submissions Call

Now that the furious beating of our hearts has subsided after our Valentine's event, we are now open for submissions for our next short story night, on Sunday 27th May.  This will be be part of the Site Festival, which will again feature a wide range of Spoken Word events.

Stories can be between 50 and 1500 words and those selected will be read aloud by their authors on the night.  All subjects and genres are welcome, with a maximum of three entries per author.

The deadline for submissions is Sunday, 29th April.

“Love and Other Blows of Fate”

Our Love-themed Valentine’s event “Love and Other Blows of Fate” took place on Sunday 12^th February, with another large and appreciative audience.  As promised, our ten authors read stories that ran the gamut of emotions, from missed chances and lost love, to consummated passion and one man’s quest for invisibility!
